Christening by Vortex

Christening by Vortex

We are energetic beings, not solid mass. We’re made of electromagnetic vibrations that create energy fields in and around us. It’s believed that we have 7 major energy centers in us called chakras that govern how our energy is used. They’re little swirls of energy – vortexes – that get blocked and out of balance, causing dis-ease. When our chakras are balanced and flowing freely, the electromagnetic frequencies of our tissues vibrate in harmony with each other. We feel healthy, light, and happy.

The Earth has chakras, too, called energy vortexes. Similar to the 7 chakras we have in our bodies, the Earth is thought to have 7 major energy vortexes, spiritual portals that can connect us with the Divine. These energy vortexes are swirling, spiraling centers of positive magnetic energy found around the Earth near volcanoes, monolithic rock formations, the north and south poles, and the points where the Earth’s ley-lines – lines that form the planet’s electromagnetic field – cross each other. So far, 21 of these vortexes have been found on our planet.

Energy vortexes were worshipped by ancient civilizations around the globe. The ancient ones erected structures at these sites, such as Stonehenge, Mayan, Egyptian, Incan, and Aztec pyramids, and monuments, churches, and temples, where they could worship in the presence of Earth’s highest energy. These vortexes are known to emit a higher energy that is conducive to healing, meditation, and spiritual connection. Ancient cultures were aware that these energy spirals were a natural healing gift from Mother Earth.

Whether you believe in the healing energy of vortexes, there’s no denying you will be changed in their presence, since the vortexes are all located in places of dramatic natural beauty. The electromagnetic energy of these vortexes is uplifting and infuses a sense of vitality, calm, and healing. They have the ability to resonate with the chakra energy centers inside our bodies to nurture spiritual growth.

I’ve been fascinated by energy vortexes for a long time and wanted to experience them. I wanted to have that wow moment, one in which I could connect on a deep level through nature with the Divine.

Several years ago, I was co-host of a spiritual retreat at the beautiful Sedona Mago Center in Arizona. Sedona is world famous as a sacred and powerful place for spiritual connection and enlightenment and has 5 major energy vortexes. In fact, the whole region around Sedona is bathed in spirals of positive energy. Energy vortexes are found around the area’s stunningly beautiful red rock formations, which owe their brilliant colors to the iron oxide deposited in the sandstone millions of years ago.

Sedona Mago Center is located just outside of the town of Sedona on 173 acres of beautiful desert land, with vast panoramas of dramatic red rock formations. The site is blessed with a large energy vortex comprised of 12 smaller vortexes around the property.

Although I was excited about leading a spiritual retreat at the stunningly beautiful Mago Center, I was even more eager to experience an energy vortex there. I had never been to Sedona or any place that had such natural healing energy.

Expectations are a funny thing. Often when we set an expectation for how we want something to play out, we’re met with disappointment. Initially, this was the case with my desire to experience a vortex.

We were scheduled to be at the retreat center for 5 days, ample time for spiritual connection with swirls of energy – at least one would think. But you can’t control nature, or vortexes, or the way you receive energy. All you can do is surrender and allow things to unfold in their natural way.

Our classes went forth without a hitch, and the week flew by. Before I knew it, we were all saying farewell, and I hadn’t experienced an energy vortex. Once in a while, I noticed a little pulsing in my ear and wondered if this was vortex energy, but it didn’t seem very spiritual.

I put my disappointment aside, packed up my car, and began the very long, slow drive along the access road toward the highway. My Prius was packed with my crystal quartz singing bowls, because I treated the group to a soundbath. The road was unpaved and had ledges in it, so I crawled along, not wanting to break my singing bowls.

“Angels descending, bring from above, echoes of mercy, whispers of love.” –  Fanny J. Crosby

It happened in an instant. I was suddenly in the middle of a vortex of little white angels dressed in christening gowns. Layer upon layer of white figures circled the outside of my car, and I was filled with a flash of understanding. I stopped the car and sat for what seemed like an eternity. The vision happened for only a few seconds, but their communication will last a lifetime.

The message was clear. I knew to the core of my being that my path was to bring my healing angels to all who need them. I realized later that this was the vortex that unfolded for me. It was something that I never could have planned or even expected. Expectations are a funny thing. When you put them aside, you leave room for the wow.
